ABOUT ME
My name is Dawn and I'm a chronic pain and illness warrior who has been bedridden about 90% of the time for many years due to severe, stage IV endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, fibromyalgia, spinal issues, and ME/cfs. I require a wheelchair on the rare occasions I leave the house and I'm still facing many surgeries, procedures, follow-ups, specialist visits, etc.
I started Luna Grace Boutique so that I could give my life more purpose and meaning while sharing my love for all things knit and crochet. Being able to own and run my own business online helps keep me sane while stuck in bed, and it also helps me to provide a much-needed income for my family, which is especially important with all of the overwhelming medical bills I have.
Despite the challenges I face, I still smile every day because I have so much to be thankful for and because God is much bigger than any illness or trial! He gives me supernatural joy, hope, positivity and love that can only come from Him and it's my goal to pass that along to all of you in every item I create!
I wouldn't have the talent that I do if it weren't for Him and because my Christian faith is so important to me, I want everything I do in this life to be for His glory! God is the ultimate maker, after all. I marvel every day over the colors He uses in a sunset or on a butterfly and how majestic mountains look as they touch the white, puffy clouds in the sky. Nothing I create could ever possibly rival His amazing creation all around us!
WHAT MAKES LUNA GRACE BOUTIQUE SPECIAL
Even though this business helps empower me and gives me confidence while also helping to provide for my family, my main goal and focus is YOU! I am determined to "WOW" every, single person who supports Luna Grace and give you the prettiest, softest, coziest, well-made knit or crochet creation!
Luna Grace items are extra special because every stitch is made by me with love, prayer and good intentions with only the best materials. I also pray over your item(s) and for you specifically before I mail your package to you. If the item is a gift, just let me know in a message, and I'll pray for the recipient as well. Each creation I make is truly straight from my heart to yours!
ABOVE AND BEYOND
If I am blessed enough to have you invest your time, trust and hard-earned money with me, then it goes without saying that you deserve the absolute best product I can deliver! Not only am I an expert knitter and crocheter with vast experience and training, but I go above and beyond to ensure that each item I make is superior in quality. I'd like to think that's why I often have repeat customers.
I make every item in my clean, smoke-free home. Because I keep a careful eye on the latest fashion, color, and décor trends, you can trust that any Luna Grace creation you purchase is very much in style. I invest in only the best patterns which I carefully procure from talented, in-demand, and hard-working Etsy designers (I make sure to give credit to each designer in every listing). I also source materials from other women-owned Etsy shops such as the beautiful, unique faux fur pom poms I offer which are meticulously handcrafted by Hannah from Naptime Knitter Design.
I also source the best fibers possible to fit every budget. Whether it's an affordable acrylic or a high-end, luxury, wool/silk/cashmere blend, you're getting the best there is! I never buy cheap just to turn a better profit. Many of the luxe yarns I source are limited edition and one-of-a-kind in both fiber content and color. Because those fibers won't ever be produced again, you have the added benefit of receiving a unique item and colorway that will be hard to find anywhere else.
(See note at the bottom of this section for an important message/warning about materials and why you should be wary of prices that seem too good to be true.)
INVENTORY
I love making hats the most, so you will see a lot of them in Luna Grace Boutique! My hats have been sold in-store and have sold out faster than I can make them! All of my many creations have also been featured and sold in a local art gallery and were in high demand there, as well. Sadly, both the store and the gallery have closed which is why I've decided to return to Etsy after a long hiatus.
As I build up my inventory over time, I plan to feature knit and crochet: hats; scarves; cowls; fingerless mitts; wall hangings; clutches; bags; baby blankets; clothing for adults, toddlers and babies; home décor; Mommy and Me matching sets; matching sets of scarves/cowls, hats and/or gloves/mittens; amigurumi stuffed toys; lovey blankets; and much more!
I'm always open to taking custom orders for different sizes, colors, items, and any other requests you may have such as gift wrapping. Just message me and I'll get right back to you!
GIVING BACK
Because chronic illness has affected my family and me so greatly (my oldest daughter also has severe stage IV endometriosis and my youngest daughter has type 1 diabetes, ulcerative colitis, depression and anxiety), and because I believe so strongly in giving back, 10% of every order will be given to various charities such as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Endometriosis Research Center, mental health and suicide awareness charities, and more. You can feel good knowing that your purchase is not only supporting a disabled, woman-owned business, you're also helping to make a difference through these charitable causes.
Lastly, while my creations are for all to enjoy, I know how hard it is for disabled and/or chronically ill women to get dressed and ready to leave the house on those rare occasions we're able to do so. I want to make style, fashion and home décor effortless and easy for all of my fellow "spoonies." A pretty scarf can make all the difference when you're feeling blah and need a little extra color and joy in your life, and a cozy hat can be great for covering up bad hair days. And gorgeous home décor can liven up and beautify a room when we're stuck in our beds and couches staring at the same four walls.
Thank you again to everyone for your support and God bless!
A NOTE OF CAUTION
If you're a regular supporter of makers here on Etsy, you probably already know all of this. But just in case... There are many low-quality pom poms and yarn fibers sold at dirt cheap prices from overseas sellers on Amazon, Ebay and other places that some sellers source from and then turn around and sell at a tempting price that's far below what credible makers charge. The materials often have a strong chemical odor while others have carcinogenic properties.
There are also overseas wholesale stores that offer machine-knit items at super low prices, often because they've been made in sweat shops or similar facilities. Those are sometimes sourced by sellers who then pass them off as handmade at prices that true makers could never compete with. Quality artisans can't compete with mega retailers such as Target or Walmart either because those items are mass-produced rather than someone spending hours/days/weeks meticulously handcrafting an item with love and attention to detail.
As the saying goes, "You get what you pay for." Be careful if something looks like a really good deal or bargain, because it could very well be an item made in a sweatshop or it may contain unsafe and/or inferior materials. For information on why handmade items by true artisans are more costly and why it's worth investing in high-quality, handmade creations, google, "Why are handmade items more expensive?"
